Every now and again I link to my pal Chad’s music, because that’s what friends do and also because I like it. He’s playing a show tonight here in NYC and I figured I’d give some links to people who might want to see if his music is something they’d like to see live.

Chad plays music under the name “Emperor X”. His shows are full of sing-a-longs and technical difficulties, and well worth checking out.
$6 show and it starts at 9pm. He goes on at 1030pm, which means that if you don’t know his stuff you have about 10+ hours to bone up on his library, much of which is available for free on his webpage at http://www.emperorx.net

I’d start with his breakout album Tectonic Membrane.
Pitchfork called it:”one of the most winsome and charmingly diminutive lo-fi records of the moment, weaving a sturdy matrix of reliable pop nuggets.”.

His “most played in stores in the mall” song is Raytracer which came on his album “Central Hug”, which Pitchfork says ”delivers jitter— and indie pop that practically gnaws its own arm with excitement.”

Of course, he’s got plenty of great new stuff to show-off too, and his latest album is The Blythe Archives: Volume 2 which is full of gems, so I’ll just pick this one as an example.

If you’re in NYC, come check him out at the Cake Shop tonight for $6.
Show is at 9pm and he goes on at 1030pm. Internet and podcasting legend Adam Varga is opening.

It’s going to be a good night!
