Lately, I’ve been riding NYC subways with people who try to guess the notes of the two-note “doors-closing” chime (older trains have different notes because of electrical drift in the older circuits where new ones are sampled and constant).

This video of someone playing a number of the songs that play in Japanese stations when the train arrives is pretty cool. The train-line is shown at the bottom each time they play a new song. It would make the note guessing game a lot more interesting.

The closest I’ve seen to this in the US is at the Denver Airport tram, where a short country ditty plays for each terminal arrival.
